This past weekend, I participated in the 52 Annual Minnesota Inventors Congress Invention and Idea Convention. Inventors traveled as far as Canada, Texas, California, Washington, and Georgia to exhibit their inventions.
Throughout the convention, I met many fellow inventors with the same mantra for creating their ideas, “I just knew there had to be a better way.” There were so many great ideas and inventions: tilted frying pan holder, flyswatter, mathware for kids, truck lift, wheelchair handle grippers, tubular racetrack, roofing ladder holder, multi-wrench, plant seed grower, and a vascular medical device. I felt like a kid in a candy store looking at all these inventions and listening to the stories behind creating these great ideas. Everyone I met continually asked about me, Messy Face™, and my invention. A paralegal commented on how he never thought the flyswatter could be patented but then again so could a bib!
At the award ceremony I sat at a table with my new friends and was very surprised hearing my name called to receive a bronze medal for the Messy Face™ bib. Never in my dreams did I imagine that a bib for children and clothing protector for adults and people with special needs would impact my life like it has this past year. To be recognized by a panel of judges with diverse backgrounds in idea development, patent legal representation, marketing and launch development, and invention history is absolutely amazing! I am truly blessed and humbled to receive the MIC award as well as make new friends with fellow inventors at the MIC event.
I knew creating Messy Face Designs, Inc. was the right thing to do, to share this solution product with others, but never did I imagine the changes this clothing protector would bring to so many people. Their comments and enthusiasm for the Messy Face™ bib inspires me to continue to make new products and to keep moving forward.
